1. Substance - What does the section say?

• Tärkein juttu kaikista, eli mitä jakso sisältää. Onko se täynnä olennaista informaatiota, hemmetin hauskoja vitsejä tai mukaansa tempaavia tarinoita? Substanssin täytyy olla tikissä, jos podcastista halutaan tehdä hyvä. Kuulijoiden aikaa täytyy arvostaa ja kilpaillussa podcast-markkinassa ei pärjää enää ihan millä tahansa tuotoksella.

2. Key points - what will the listener learn from the episode?

• These must be clearly defined. What are the key things that the listener needs to remember?
• Once these are defined in advance, it is easier to know when to stop the episode

3. Listener information threshold

• It is important to understand how sophisticated the listener is judged to be in relation to the topic being discussed.
• Harry Potter -esimerkki: Ei kannata erikseen kuvailla kuulijalle, että Harry Potter -kirjasarja kertoo velhosta, jolla on silmälasit ja arpi otsassa. Kuulija kyllä tietää.

• Everybody wants to make a positive and interesting

5. Format

• Almost as important as the substance of the podcast is the format.
• How well do the speakers put their points across? How far do you edit to achieve the desired result?
• What is the atmosphere like in the pod?
• Does the speech flow smoothly, is it calm, loud, something else?

6. Guests and authorities

• Guest selections are important in podcasts. They bring authority and insight to the topics discussed.
• Know your own relationship to the issue at hand, are you an expert, a layman or a complete layman? Be honest about your own position
• Know the guest's relationship to the subject, whether he or she is a top expert in the field, or just a fun person to discuss anything with.
• Not all people need to be invited, you can quote them or play an audio clip of their speech
