How to script a podcast?

A well-designed script will help you outline the guidelines for the debate and allow you to be concise. A clear outline will save you time and effort. Keep it simple.

Podcast scripts are made up of different elements. Let's start by listing the most typical building blocks for a podcast episode:

  1. Intro - Intro introduces the podcast, its host and the topic of the episode
  2. Guest introduction - Introduce the guest, who they are and why they have been invited
  3. Interjection - Used when introducing a new topic or presenting essential data to the audience
  4. Summarising - Crystallising the main points of the episode for the listener
  5. Outro - End of episode, thanks, comments, hype for next episodes
  6. CTA - Call To Action, i.e. "follow us on social", "remember to comment on Twitter", etc.

Other possible blocks:

  • Advertisements
  • Cold open (quote from the episode at the beginning of the episode)
  • Interview inserts
  • Sound clips

+ HOT TIP: Use Use Google Trends. and Twitter to help you figure out what topics and questions people are thinking about right now.
